Clergy Transition & Rector Search

Even as St. Matthew’s is in the midst of celebrating our bicentennial, we find ourselves at the start of a new chapter in our parish history. On July 13, 2025, the Rev. Robert Fruehwirth ended his time as parish rector to pursue a ministry devoted to adult spiritual formation. In The Episcopal Church, we as a parish determine our vision for the future and choose who will lead us into it. With guidance from the diocese, we follow by a process that invites us into prayerful and hope-filled dreaming of how we will be the church in the future. This requires patience, faithful discernment, trust, and confidence in God’s providence.

Learn more about the search process below and check back often for updates and news about where we are and where we have been in this time of clergy transition. Most importantly, pray for the Vestry, members of the Search Committee once it has been named (and those being considered to serve on the committee until then), and any and all prospective candidates in the months to come.
