The 81st General Convention of the Episcopal Church

From June 23 to June 28 in Louisville, Kentucky, members of the Episcopal Church will gather for the General Convention. This event has taken place approximately every three years since 1785.

In addition to participating in worship, fellowship, and attending to church business, this year the General Convention will elect a new Presiding Bishop. Our current Presiding Bishop, Michael Curry, served as the Bishop in the Diocese of North Carolina for fifteen years prior to his appointment as the Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church. On Wednesday, June 26, the convention will vote for Presiding Bishop Curry’s successor. For more information on the candidates, please see the link below.

Nominees for the 28th Presiding Bishop

As we prepare for this General Convention, you are invited to participate in the following prayer:

Almighty and everlasting Father, you have given the Holy Spirit to abide with us forever: Bless, we pray, with his grace and presence, the bishops and other clergy and the laity soon to be assembled in your Name, that your Church, being preserved in true faith and godly discipline, may fulfill all the mind of him who loved it and gave himself for it, your Son Jesus Christ our Savior; who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, no and forever. Amen
