Annual St. Mary’s Chapel Homecoming Aug 20, 5pm

Everyone is invited to attend the once-a-year service of Evening Prayer at this Orange County historical landmark. Our own Robert Fruehwirth will officiate; Peter Sandbeck, Orange Co. Coor. of Cultural Resources, will speak; and The Travelin' Mercies (Mary Rocap & Megan Whitted) will provide music. St. Mary’s was founded in 1759 as a “chapel of ease” within the colonial St. Matthew’s Parish, so called because it provided a convenient place of worship for persons living too far away from Hillsborough. St. Mary’s Chapel is located on the NE corner of St. Mary’s Road and Schley/Pleasant Green Road (6.5 miles north of St. Matthew’s).
