You are the Church!
And so the life of the Church continues. And you are the Church, the lifeblood of St. Matthew’s, that thread over time that carries on the work God has given you to do in this time and place. Your generosity of spirit, your welcome, your thoughtfulness, your faithfulness, your care and compassion, your wit and wisdom- these qualities “belong” to you and in the days and weeks and months ahead, you’ll continue to embody these beautiful gifts of the Spirit. Hold fast to them because it is your treasure.
Right now there are a variety of different ways to get involved in worship services specifically but there are all kinds of ways to be involved otherwise too. Note several trainings coming up: August 2- Altar Guild Brunch and commissioning; August 3- reader (lector) training; August 10- Eucharistic Minister training; August 17 Usher training; and August 31- Acolyte training. All but the altar guild and acolyte training will be held in the church at 9:00 am. Do any of these spark your interest? If you are curious about these or other ways to be involved, let me know.
Also, next Sunday at both the 8:00 and 10:00 am services, we’ll be welcoming the Rev. Marion Sprott, transition ministry officer of the diocese, who is eager to meet you and to share more about the upcoming search process for a new rector. She’ll be preaching and celebrating at both services. I hope you can attend! Lisa+
