Voting and Elections Process

The Racial Justice and Reconciliation Committee will conclude the semester's study of Free and Fair Elections in North Carolina with an Adult Forum at 9:15 Sunday, October 29.

This program will focus on the history (and present!) of gerrymandering in North Carolina.

RJR Committee member and Orange County Board of Elections Chair Jamie Cox will lead the discussion, joined by our guest Hillary Harris Klein, Senior Voting Rights Counsel at the Southern Coalition for Social Justice.

Graduating with honors from Georgetown University Law Center, Ms. Klein's practice focuses on trial advocacy, and anti-prison gerrymandering initiatives.

Prior to joining the Southern Coalition, she practiced in the New York office of Freshfields, where she served as lead counsel for prisoners' RIghts and Anti-Human Trafficking matters.

Ms, Klein holds a BSE, magna cum laude, in Bioengineering from the University of Pennsylvania and spent two years as a Peace Corps volunteer in Tanzania.
