The Sanctuary Course: The church and mental health
Thursdays, Feb 26 and March 5, 12, & 26 from 6:30-8 pm in the Cooke-Lawrence Room
Please join us for the second offering of 4-week Sanctuary Course designed to educate our understanding of mental health. The course explores important concepts from three perspectives: the psychological, the social, and the theological. We will learn about various experiences of mental illness, consider the impact of stigma, explore the process of recovery, discover the importance of companionship, reflect on the experience of caregiving, and examine self-care practices. While this is not a support group, those with lived experience are especially welcome.
The Sanctuary Course equips churches seeking to become sanctuaries where people with mental health challenges feel safe, supported, and a sense of belonging. Please email elizabetsbarber@gmail.com or ashleybanes@gmail.com if interested.
The Cooke-Lawrence Room is in the Parish House immediately on your left when you enter using the main double-doors.
