Honoring Dr. Jason A. Wright’s Ministry of Music

After five years of faithful and inspiring musical and liturgical leadership, this Sunday will mark Dr. Jason Wright’s final Sunday with us at St. Matthew’s. Throughout his time in this parish, Jason has enriched our worship with beauty, care, and a deep sense of reference, helping to shape the spiritual life of our community through music.

In thanksgiving for his ministry among us, the 10:30 am service will include special music selected by Dr. Jason for the occasion, as well as a Litany of Thanksgiving, an offering of our collective gratitude for the gifts he has shared and the devotion he has shown.

“Under his direction, the music ministry has reflected both excellence and devotion, honoring the Anglican choral tradition while inviting the congregation to sing with confidence and joy. The organ voluntaries, service music & hymn leadership, choral anthems, and special liturgies have all borne the marks of careful preparation and theological depth.”

Following the service, the parish is invited to gather for a reception in his honor in the space we usually gather for Coffee Hour, to take the opportunity to reflect on his ministry, his service, and to express our appreciation to all he has given to St. Matthew’s. Parishioners are invited to bring cards or mementos of gratitude, which may be placed in the basket in the church foyer for presentation at the reception.

O God, whom saints and angels delight to worship in heaven: Be ever present with your servant, Jason Wright, who seeks through art and music to perfect the praises offered by your people on earth; and grant to him even now glimpses of your beauty, and make him worthy at length to behold it unveiled for evermore; through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen.
