St. Matthew’s Needs You: Lots of opportunities to serve!

The parish is looking for people to serve in various capacities on Sunday mornings. From coffee hour hosts to ushers, there’s a place for you to serve!

Training sessions for worship roles will be offered at 9 am on Sundays in August according to the schedule outlined below.  If you currently serve or are interested in serving in any of these areas, please plan on attending the corresponding training.

Laity Roles in Worship -

  • August 10: Lectors – Adults, youth, and older elementary school children are welcome in this role to read one or more Scripture lessons.

  • August 17: Eucharistic Ministers – Duties vary slightly depending on the service, but people serving in this role generally lead the Prayers of the People and assist the priest(s) in serving communion.

  • August 24: Ushers – People in this role greet worshipers at the church doors upon arrival, hand out bulletins, pass the collection plates during the offering, and direct the flow of people during the Eucharist.

  • August 31:  AcolytesDuties include carrying the cross during the procession and assisting the clergy as they set the table for Eucharist. This opportunity is open to anyone aged 10 and older - adults, youth, and children.

We also need people to assist in the nursery at both services and run Zoom for the later service.
