Sunday Server Training Month!
Serving at Sunday morning services is one of St. Matthew’s most important ministries
If you would like to serve in some capacity there are many options from which to choose! The parish is looking for people to serve in various capacities on Sunday mornings. Options include Coffee hour hosts, Service Zoomers, Greeters, Ushers to ushers, there’s a place for you to serve!
Training sessions for worship roles will be offered at 9 am on Sundays in September according to the schedule outlined below. If you currently serve or are interested in serving in any of these areas, please plan on attending the corresponding training session.
This year as part of our "Loving Our Neighbors" initiative, we invite children and families to attend these training sessions in the area they feel called to serve!
Laity Roles in Worship - Training (refresh training for the experienced) will be held on the following dates:
Sept 13: Lectors & Lay Eucharistic Ministers - Lectors: Adults, youth, and elementary school children are welcome in this role, and read one or more Scripture lessons; LEMs– Duties vary slightly depending on the service, but those serving in this role generally lead the Prayers of the People and assist the priest(s) in serving communion.
Sept 20: Ushers – People in this role greet worshipers at the church doors upon arrival, hand out bulletins, pass the collection plates during the offering, direct the flow of people during the Eucharist, and tidy up the pews after the service.
Sept 27: Greeters – People in this role are called up by the Officiant during the Announcements to greet visitors and to invite them to fill out a pew card and to join us in the Fellowship Hall for Coffee Hour following the service.
Sept 27: Acolytes – Duties include carrying the cross during the procession and assisting the clergy as they set the table for Eucharist. This opportunity is open to all- adults, youth, and children.
