Faith & the Arts: Darkness to Light on March 8, 7:30pm
As part of the 2025 North Carolina HIP (historically informed performance) Music Festival, St. Matthew’s is hosting the world-renowned performer of early music, William Simms, lute, who will be joined by Tasmin Simmill, vocalist, and poets Maura High and Alison Hurwitz.
The evening will include a celebration of “Darkness to Light” as we prepare for daylights savings time which begins within hours of the conclusion of the event. Musical works by Dowland, Purcell, Caccini, and Aelotti. Poetry featured will include poems by Hurwirtz and High along with other notable female poets in celebration of International Women's Day, which is also on March 8.
A suggested donation of $20 at the door will support the musicians.
