Evening Village Church: Epiphany Burning of the Greens & Chili Cook-Off
Sunday, Jan 4, at 5:00 pm -
Join us for a St. Matthew’s tradition that has now been combined with the Epiphany Village Church. All are invited to drop off your sad, dried up Christmas trees and any other greenery (now likely “brownery”) in the lower parking lot near the Fellowship Hall anytime after Dec 30 and prior to the event. We’ll have a short blessing and prayer before sending them skyward in a blaze of glory and singing Christmas carols. Those who’d like to compete in the chili cook-off need to deliver your crock pot or kettle loaded with your best homemade chili recipe no later than 5 pm to be judged by our experts. Judging will be done in three categories: Beef, Vegetarian, or Other. Tortilla chips, toppings and drinks will be provided as we enjoy the competitors' offerings. Winners will be announced after all have been fed. For more information, please contact Karen Ireland or Stephany Lazo.
