Advent Prayers of the People

In this advent season, as the deacon bids us to offer the prayers of the people, they will be the prayers of St. Matthew’s parishioners. Starting this week through the fourth Sunday of Advent, the prayers of the people will have been written by members of the congregation. In the tradition of bringing the concerns of the world to the church, this embodied practice of drafting prayers for the church to offer on Sunday weds the purpose of this portion of the service with each of our individual witness to Christ’s role in our lives. Deacon Kate gives thanks to Amy Sharon, Jehanne Gheith, and Austin Stapella for being willing to write and author St. Matthew’s Advent prayers of the people. If this is a ministry that calls to you, please reach out to Kate.
